Hello Misti-Con!

After months of preparation (that is not an exaggeration!) it’s finally time for Misti-Con, a fabulous convention in New Hampshire for Harry Potter fans.

Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets handmade quilted wall hanging.

In celebration, I’m having a MASSIVE PRIZE GIVE-AWAY, and you can participate whether you’re at Misti-Con or not.

So what am I giving away?

GRAND PRIZE: a $50 Amazon gift card!
NEXT…you could win one of three handmade, quilted wall hangings–handmade by yours truly!

First, the bright blue Chamber of Secrets wall hanging pictured above. I’ll show it to you in more detail below, plus the other two.

But first, HOW TO ENTER:

There are two ways to enter:

First, come to my author table at the Bewitching Bazaar & Author’s Alley at Misti-Con and fill out a slip to enter. No purchase necessary!

Second, use the green box on this website that says “Sign up for updates on Robin’s writing.” All new sign-ups will get one entry in the prize drawing. Here’s the box:

You can get two entries by entering in person at Misti-Con and on the website.  The drawing will be held around 5:00 at my author table, and winners will be notified via email.

And oh yeah…at my Author table at the Bewitching Bazaar, you can also check out my books, of course! Summer’s Winter is a really fun read for fans, because it’s a romantic suspense involving fandom. John Granger said it’s “the most inventive take on fan fiction I can imagine — because it’s a romance-thriller about fandoms, especially if not explicitly the Harry Potter fandom, and explores the important intersection of literature, spirituality, and imagination. Delightful!”

And then there’s my new one, Jordan’s Shadow, a spine-tingling mash-up that’s a little bit ghost story, science fiction, family drama, mystery…well, you get the picture. It’s a fun, spooky read…and the characters are Potter fans, of course!

And now, here are more pictures of the wall hangings you could win (or make).

First, the bright blue, Chamber of Secrets mini quilt pictured above. And in a little more detail here:

2015-05-17 15.36.31

This is partially made from officially licensed Harry Potter fabric that has been out of print for years, and sells for about $65/yard on Ebay! It was hard sacrificing a bit of it, but I love the result.

And then, this micro mini quilt, which I call “Always…”  Hopefully it doesn’t need explanation if you’re a fellow Potter fan!

2015-05-17 15.37.46

It’s entirely made by hand, including hand quilting. I’m showing front and back views partly because, if you like what you see, you can not only enter to win it but can also come to My Misti-Con workshop, Intro to Fandom Quilting, on Friday morning at 11 a.m. and get a kit to make either a Silver Doe wall hanging like this, or an Owl (scroll further down).

And here’s the Owl you can try to win–or get a kit to make on Friday morning.

2015-05-17 15.38.13

Hope to see you all at Misti-Con! Oh, and if you don’t catch up with me at the Bewitching Bazaar or the Fandom Quilting workshop:

I’ll be leading two more sessions on Sunday:
9:00 a.m., Christian fans’ praise and worship meet-up (Location: Gunstock)
2:00 p.m., Fan Fiction: Noble Past, Explosive Present, and Your Publishing Future (Location: Gunstock)

Hope to meet you this week!

Emma Right’s Princesses of Chadwick Castle Series & a Kindle Fire Give-away!

Author Emma Right is here today to tell you about her children’s series, The Princesses of Chadwick Castle–and to give us a chance to enter her give-away of a Kindle Fire!

Emma  didn’t mention it, but in reading about these books, I was thinking they’d be great for girls who enjoyed the movie Frozen. Here’s Emma, to tell us about the series, and the give-away!

The Princesses Of Chadwick Castle Adventure is an eight-book series set in 19th century England. The adventure revolves around the sisters, Elle age 12, and Belle, 10. It’s great for readers who love Cinderella-type fairy tales and European princess stories.

While Princesses Sleep

While Princesses Sleep opens with the Princess Elle discovering a strange sound in the night. Curious, she determines the reason for these mysterious noises and starts the adventure with her sister, Belle. Something is afoot at the castle and they must find out what this is. However, finding the truth behind the secrets they stumble upon leads them to strange answers? What sort of trouble will the princesses get themselves into?

This children’s illustrated story is written from a first person point of view and is similar to a princess diary type book. In the princesses’ adventure they are also introduced to the world of ballet. The spin-off series (coming soon) will deal more with ballerinas and ballet stories.

Each full color book tells of the princesses’ daily adventure living in the castle. The series features artwork from the art masters whose works have entered the public domain and are no longer restricted by copyright.

Titles in The Princesses of Chadwick Castle Adventure Mystery series

  1. While Princesses Sleep
  2. Beaded Dresses Myster
  3. Lady With The Circlet
  4. Secret Mission Princess
  5. Pretty Scary Lady
  6. Down With The Crown
  7. Peasant Princesses
  8. Princess Rewards

The Princesses Of Chadwick Castle Series is a historical-adventure-mystery-type story with a princess twist.  I wrote the series primarily for girls age 6 or 7 to 12 but although it is a princess story I feel even a boy could enjoy the series because of its fast pace and elements of intrigue. (Bear in mind these are princess stories for girls, essentially.) Almost every page is filled with full-color illustrations and the series is available in ebook and paperback. I hope to expose young readers to artwork from master artists of the world.

Lady with the Circlet

I realize as a relatively new author readers might be hesitant to invest in the Princess Castle Books. So I’ve made it easy for everyone. The first book, While Princesses Sleep, is available for download in three formats (Kindle, Nook and pdf) if you go to the site; the second book, Beaded Dresses Mystery, is free for three days in April on Amazon, and the third book, Lady With the Circlet, will be gifted to all entrants in the Kindle Fire HD Giveaway I am hosting this month.

You can enter the giveaway here.

Also, I am excited about the audio book for the first book, While Princesses Sleep. It was professionally read by a British voiceover artist–the story’s after all set in an English 19th century castle. For those who write me a review be sure to email me and I will send you the MP3 recording for free! I hope the children will enjoy this feature! They can listen and follow the story with their book—ebook or paperback.
